Critical Evaluation of a Source

Assessment 2 -  Isys Lehmann S00380731 FSDL001

BACKGROUND TO THE TOPIC

This week I’ve been putting my critical digital literacy skills to use by searching for information about an issue relating to AI and the people who it disadvantages

I’ve been looking at the digital divide which basically is a gap between those who have access to modern technology and information and those who have restricted access or don't at all.

THE ISSUE IN A NUTSHELL

The digital divide is the gap between those who have access to modern technology and modern information and those who have restricted access or don't have any access at all. This is an issue that can affect a variety of demographics and regions around the world. Putting those who don't have any access to modern technology and information at a disadvantage.

This is an issue because those who are on the disadvantaged side of the divide have limited digital literacy skills, therefore reducing the likely hood of gaining a higher paying job which in turn means not being able to purchase modern technology resulting in the next generation having the same issues and so on and so forth. Having cycle that will continue. This issue mainly affects those in poorer countries because these countries do not have the resources to purchase or import modern technology into the country.

AN INDEPTH ARTICLE ANALYSIS

The Article I will be evaluating is an article titled "The ‘digital divide’ is already hurting people’s quality of life. Will AI make it better or worse?" By Sarah Bentley and Claire Naughtin. I will be evaluating it using the CRAAP method. I'm using this method because it is the most useful identifying on whether or not an article is useful.
