Context :

This week, I’ve been putting my critical digital literacy skills to the test by researching an issue that intersects technology and employment: The impact of artificial intelligence on taking over jobs. This helps people understand how emerging technologies are reshaping the workforce, which is important for navigating today’s digital landscape effectively.

Introduction :

I have been looking at the debate around artificial intelligence and its role in the job market which essentially revolves around whether AI is primarily replacing existing jobs or creating new ones. This topic I have chosen is significant because it addresses the boarder implications of AI on employment and it offers insights into how automation and advanced AI are influencing career opportunities and job structures.

Topic/ Issue :

Artificial intelligence (AI) is the development of computer systems capable of performing tasks that typically need human intelligence such as problem-solving, decision-making, and learning.

Why is this issue a thing? :

On one hand, AI can lead to job displacement as machines and algorithms take over tasks previously performed by humans. Whilst, on the other hand, AI can drive job creation in areas related to technology development, maintenance and management. The positive and negative in these outcomes is what makes this issue complex and important.

Significance of the Issue :

This issue is significant because it has implications for both the economy and individual livelihoods. As AI continues to advance, understanding its impact on jobs helps businesses and workers prepare for shifts in the job market.

Cause and Effect of the Issue :

The effects of AI on employment impacts various groups. The primary cause of this issue that is AI taking over jobs is the rapid advancement of AI technologies. The challenge lies in balancing the effects to reduce the risks while taking advantage of the benefits.

Overall :

Overall, the article was mostly informative but should be complemented with ongoing research to fully grasp the evolving nature of this issue.
